Two of the ladies, Elaine and Barbie took me to La Mitad del Mundo (The Middle of the World)<a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.volunteeringecuador.info\/travel\/mitad-del-mundo-near-quito.html\">http:\/\/www.volunteeringecuador.info\/travel\/mitad-del-mundo-near-quito.html<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130219.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-71\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130219-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We saw some llamas and a baby llama nibbling on the plants at the La Mitad Del Mundo. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130189.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-70\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130189-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130189-300x224.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130189-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>There were several museums there to walk through. One told about the measuring of the equator and finding where it ran. One was about insects<a href=\"http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130212.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-72\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.omasblog.mcguireclan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/P8130212-e1345334695404-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"103\" height=\"103\" \/><\/a> and another owed how Quito used to look. We stopped by the Ecuador Insectarium and looked at the various insects and butterflies of Ecuador and South America. I held two Dynastes Hercules <a href=\"http:\/http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hercules_beetle\/\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hercules_beetle<\/a>. Yes, they were alive.<\/p>\n<p>We also visited some of the craft shops there. We saw some Vegetable ivory <a href=\"http:\/\/waynesword.palomar.edu\/pljan99.htm\">http:\/\/waynesword.palomar.edu\/pljan99.htm<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0 It was very interesting to see the jewlery they made and the carvings.\u00c2\u00a0 They were very pretty.<\/p>\n<p>For lunch we had locro, a potato soup with cheese and avocado.\u00c2\u00a0 It was very good!<\/p>\n<p>We also moved into the HCJB missionary guest house today.\u00c2\u00a0 It gives us a little more room in which to move.\u00c2\u00a0 It is very pleasant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was a fun day.
